I took my 90-year father to see a physician, Mr. Subodh Chandra, for GI issues after he was discharged from the CCU where he spent five days.
The hospital attendant took him in the doctors office as my father kept trying to throw up in the lobby (it was only a feeling). When Dr. Chandra comes in he starts yelling at the attendant as if we were not even there saying why he was there and he can sit. Not once did he look up at my father or say GM/hullo/ or how are you. An elderly person deserves a little respect. Then the doctor started berating me because I used the word nausea – saying I should not use medical terms and should stick to laypersons terms. Since when has nausea become a medical term only? He continued to be dismissive. His whole interaction was extremely rude and unnecessary. If doctors are so busy that they don’t have the courtesy of being polite then they should think of another profession.
I’ve never experienced the level of rudeness and superiority complex that I have with Dr. Chandra and I feel sorry to even call him a doctor. He may be under the impression that he is a demigod.
He needs to go through ethics and patient care training as he seems to have forgotten what profession he is in.
